Achievements through the Colleges & Careers office

The U of Alberta has offered a scholarship of $10,000 (CAD) to one student nominated from KIS for the U of Alberta India Select High School Scholarship. KIS is one of five selected schools in India to receive this scholarship offer. The other schools are Bishop Cottons Boys School, Delhi Public Schools, Dhirubhai Ambani International School and Pathways World School.

Madhav Vaidyanathan (grade 12) has been invited to New York U Abu Dhabi to attend a candidate choice weekend where students will get an opportunity to tour the campus, meet faculty and administration. Madhav and Jin U left for Abu Dhabi on 26 November. NYU AD will be paying for their trip, including airfare, visas and pocket money. Only three students, out of 50 applicants, from Indian schools have been selected so far from 25 school. Two are from KIS!

Madhav’s research paper topic is, “To investigate the factors affecting the environmental conditions of the UAE, and through that propose a societal model based on 'Green Development' after weighing the economic challenges and opportunities.”

NYU AD will select only 100 students from across the globe to study at what they call their Global Campus. We hope our KIS students make it. Both of them worked very hard on their research paper and application. I am proud of them.

The book is published by Ameya Prakashan.

Note the following correction:

In editing the Class of 1948 column, I (Julie) inadvertently left out reference to the author. On page 17, please read the sentence pertaining to Bob Frykenberg, as follows:

I, BOB CARMAN, really recommend it.

Both Bob Carman and Bob Frykenberg endorse the book and encourage you to read it [the book].
