I heard from Tim a few weeks ago and asked him to write about his ordination. He writes:
As of July 2004 I moved to Charlotte to pursue a Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. I finished the 106 credit hour program and graduated May 08. During that time I was interning at StoneBridge Church Community on the north side of Charlotte. From there I was asked to take the position of the previous Youth Director and began working there full time May 07.
Once I graduated I began the next step of working on ordination. It takes roughly three months, assuming you pass the written tests the first time. There are 5 major areas they examine you on, Biblical Knowledge, Biblical Theology, Church History, the Sacraments, and Church Polity. After the written exams you go before a committee. Then assuming you pass those two parts you go before the Presbytery of Elders. I went before them April 28th and passed with flying
colors (Of course I passed the first two parts or they wouldn't have passed me on to the presbytery).
Once I passed the presbytery they then ordained and installed me to the role of Assistant Pastor at StoneBridge Church Community. I now am a full-time pastor there and spend the bulk of my time working with youth and families. I run the youth ministry and will be expanding to the preaching schedule and family ministry.
