A Message from CCS Superintendent Dan Bragg

Dear Alumni of CCS,

Can you imagine there are nearly 1100 of you!

CCS has struggled the last few years keeping an Administrator for some length. I pray I am here to stay. So I greet you as a stranger, but hope you will accept me as a leader of your old school that is driven by the mission of what we do (and what you have done). Please remember some of the names that did ignite something in you: school leaders like Jess Eversole, Ed Reck, Ron and Edna Wagers, Pastor Rosenberg, as well as many influential teachers. And there are some veterans of many years still going, people such as Cheryl Williams, Sam Dillard, and Wayne Beaver. I hope you have fond memories!

The Lord is doing great things at Cincinnati Christian!

We had a wonderful celebration on November 30th during our Friends and Family Banquet. We were encouraged by our keynote speaker, Dr. Jay Kesler, former president of Taylor University, one of our alumni, the jazz band, the elementary choir, and the Oak Harbor Boys, featuring our own Aaron Perkins at bass!

The purpose of this event was to launch our $3.5 million Capital Campaign. What a thrill to announce we have a $1 million dollar donor! God has delivered a huge shot in the right direction as we pursue the pieces of school expenditures & capital to fulfill our mission to equip, train, and disciple students to follow Christ and impact culture.

Would you be willing to help us with this project? Would you like to see our master plan and financial information? Please consider how the Lord may want you to partner with your old school (the campaign includes a 3 year financial commitment). I believe for CCS to succeed and prosper for the Lord, it is going to take mass involvement. No matter what role you take, please pray that we will do every part of this project His way and for His glory.

The need for quality Christian education has never been greater. We need to be equipping an army of believers who are so excited to live out the truth of Jesus Christ.

Praise the Lord for His $1 Million dollar provision! For such a time as this!!

In His Grip,

Dan L. Bragg

Matt is teaching high school English at Mariemont City Schools and coaching. He has contributed articles to the on-line companion to the print version of Relevant Magazine. The magazine desribes itself this way:

"We are twentysomething Christians. We want to break stereotypes, challenge status-quo and enact change through the media. We're seeking God, living life and striving to impact the world around us. It's pretty simple, really. Oh yeah, and we're a self-contained, for-profit business not affiliated with any other companies, denominations or organizations."

Gabrielle, Don, Sean, and Zoe
Family Update from Gabrielle (George, 2003) O'Connell
Here are some family updates from Gabrielle (George, 2003) O’Connell

Gabby and her husband Don have two children, Sean Wallace who was born Aug 4, 2005 and now Zoe Katherine who arrived September 29, 2007.

Sean was 3 lbs 10 oz and 17 in. long and Zoe was 6 lbs 8 oz and 19 in. long. Both of them are doing great and Sean is having fun trying to help with Zoe. He tries to give her her pacifier or bottle and tries to help pick her up and carry her already too.

Don and I had our 2nd year anniversary on May 14 of this year. I am a stay at home mom and loving it. I have a couple side jobs and am currently teaching one day a week at CCS as a choreography instructor for the Performance Theater class.

This past Christmas at our church's Cantata we were chosen to be Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus and toddler Jesus (for the wise men). It was all great and at the end of the program when it was silent for prayer is when Sean started acting up and wanted to climb all over the stairs. We decided to stop him (being during prayer) and he yelled out a big "NO, no". It was great.

Chips Off the Old Block!
As I was walking through the school last month, I noticed several high school students whose parents I had in class when they were in high school.

After I got over the shock of what that meant about how old I am, I thought it would be fun to pull out the parents' old yearbook photos and compare them to their kids most recent school photos. So, here are all of the current high school students, that I think of, whose parents also attended CCHS. By the way, sorry about how the newsletter squishes portrait photos, I have not found a solution to this.
