It is a popular theme in churches today to encourage Christians to expand their faith from their personal relationship with God at the altar or prayer closet externally towards the spiritual and physical needs of the world. At our school that theme has been modeled most emphatically in the person of Roxanne Cash.
Who organized an evangelism trip to Russia?
Who created the choir mission trips which became the Annual Mission Trips to metropolitan inner-cities?
When offerings were taken at a church for the CCS Choir, whose idea was it to turn that offering back to that church’s mission giving?
Who organized the annual summer trip to Aroma Park to serve developmentally handicapped campers?
Who forged an alliance between Springdale Nazarene and CCS to raise awareness and money for the Louisiana hurricane relief fund and then helped lead a group of CCS students there on clean up duty?
Who plays piano tirelessly for rehearsal after rehearsal for the spring musicals and then directs the orchestra, all with practically no recognition?
Who organized our weekly inner city ministry through Common Ground Ministries?
Who organized a lunch time prayer and discipleship meeting to encourage spiritual leadership on campus?
Who put our choir on the city government steps as an expression of religious freedom on the National Day of Prayer?
And now, who is leaving a job she loves because the place she is needed now is at home caring for members of her family?
The answer to all of these questions is Roxanne Cash. Here are some photos to spark our memories of how she has modeled a servant’s heart.
I encourage everyone who is able to join us on May 6 as we celebrate the service of Roxanne in a Homecoming concert.
